With the side brimming with players and their star players now having a free run to the end of the season, U18s coach Richard Hobby is feeling very optimistic about the Blayney Bears finals hopes.

“We’re sitting at number three on the Group 10 ladder now and with our current form we should finish the season in the same place,” Hobby said.
That superb form has come courtesy of an influx of quality Blayney U16s players from last year and the skills of his half and five eight, Orange players Dale and Dion Jones.
Compared to last year’s result when the side only had nine players and won only one match, he’s enthusiastic about what the next few years mean for the side.
“They’ve all improved so much and are getting better week after week and have really benefited from having all the 16s come into the side,” Hobby said.
Some of the U18s have been backing up for two matches every Sunday with Ryley Oborn and Joey Hobby regularly running on to the field with the First Division, and on the odd occasion, the Premier League as well.
“Ryley played three matches on Sunday and that’s not really ideal because the 18’s are in for a chance and we don’t want them getting injured,” he said.
After his successful stint in New Zealand with the NSW Country Rugby League side, Joey Hobby is free for the run home as well.
