The nesting boxes which have been placed in trees throughout the Pound Flat area are proving to be a great success. Four of the five boxes designed for small native fauna such as Sugar Gliders now have nests. Carcoar Landcare President Eric Foote said that it was “fantastic to see the native wild life returning to area this early in the project.” More animal and bird nesting boxes will be added to the site in coming weeks.

Vale Anna & Ruby
Sad news with the passing of two well known local identities, Ruby Hamilton and Anna Fearnley. Both were widely known and highly respected throughout the community. For just under thirty years Anna operated the Carcoar Post Office and also ran The Five Frogs Guest House from the same premises. She was involved in the community and was a member of the Uralba board and various district sporting associations.
Ruby Hamilton (nee Bright) was the youngest of eleven children and lived in Carcoar all her life with her husband Slim and their four children. She was known for always helping out at local functions and her cream puffs and jelly slices were a highlight of any function she helped cater for. Some years back both Ruby and her husband Slim received a special award for their services to the community.
With Anna and Ruby passing away within a few days of each other the village community is experiencing considerable grief in their loss. There is, however, some glimmer of comfort to be found in the knowledge that their legacy will remain undimmed as successive generations leave their mark. Both Anna and Ruby were much loved by the Carcoar community and we send our deepest sympathy to their families.
