On Saturday, 1 July, the May Raechelle Art Gallery is featuring a double line up of artists for the start of the gallery’s Rural Artist Exhibition.
Local artist from Blayney, Maxine Chapman, is exhibiting inspired art from scenes in South West America using acrylic on canvas.
“The arts of South America influenced my direction with colour and style into my paintings,” said Chapman.
“Desert scenes, birds and Indians emerged from my travels and I have since used these influences to paint Australian birds and animals.
“Since starting to paint, I have used influences from my travels overseas and Australia.
“I try to do different things around the Australian theme and sold my first painting which was a tribute to our Anzacs at Gallipoli last year in April 2016.”
Kayleen Nicholson, artist from Parkes, combines her art with study, using art as a form of relaxation after a day at the university.
When time allows on university breaks, Kayleen travels extensively across the region and to overseas countries such as Fiji, USA and Thailand.
Kayleen revels in these countries cultures and allows her to take photographs with the view of bringing these scenes and people to life on canvas.
“It is an opportunity to spread my creative wings and discover different cultures and life,” said Nicholson.
“I love bright colours and experimenting with themes.
“At the moment the theme is toys and flowers and soon I will take that focus to landscapes.”
Maxine Chapman and Kayleen Nicholson are the first in the roll out of the Rural Artist Exhibition taking place at the May Raechelle Art Gallery during July and August.
