Often when I mention Inner Wheel, people ask “What’s that?” International Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s voluntary service organisations in the world. It was begun in the UK in 1924 and began life as a friendship club for the partners of Rotary members. Hence the name “Inner Wheel”, being the inner part of the widely recognised Rotary wheel. It has now spread to more than 103 countries across the globe and membership is open to all women. The objects of our organisation are:

As part of our personal service, Blayney Inner Wheel Club strongly supports the Inner Wheel Australia National Project, Cord Blood Research, which is using stem cells from umbilical cord blood to find solutions for many diseases, including leukaemia, diabetes, Alzheimers and many others. Recently we held a successful stall to raise funds for this cause. The raffle prize was a beautiful quilt made and donated by one of our newest members, Lyn May, won by Austin Carney (Red D7). At our most recent meeting we heard from Rotary Youth Exchange student, Clara Geenens from Belgium who has been in Blayney since July last year and has recently enjoyed a trip through the “Red Centre” and across to the Barrier Reef, with the Rotary Student Safari, gaining an unforgettable experience of just how vast and diverse Australia is.
