Mayor Scott Ferguson described the plan as a wishlist for the next two decades which would complement the work of the sports council.
“The master plan is bigger than the list of priorities that the sports council has considered,” Councillor Ferguson said.
Cr Ferguson said it wasn’t about ensuring individual items that needed work in the near term, but what the community wanted in two decades.
He said that might include a new grandstand at King George Oval, or further camping facilities at Carcoar dam.
“We have no plans for Carcoar dam, but if we have one, as things change and grant funding becomes available, we can act it,” Cr Ferguson said.
The mayor said it wasn’t just about sporting facilities either, with the plan to address pathways, potential cycleways and how people use parks and reserves such as Church Hill look out.
Importantly, he said the entire shire was invited as the plan would impact Newbridge to Millthorpe to Mandurama.
A ‘vision workshop’ will be held at the community centre from 6pm on Thursday, May 25 before two more public consultation sessions on Friday and Saturday.
“It’s time to stop, reflect and talk to people about what they would like from their paths and parks,” Cr Ferguson said.
“It’s to ensure our priorities can be recorded so we can work through them.
“Without that plan it will be very difficult to make happen.”
