On Anzac Day thieves struck the Blayney Golf Club, looking for valuables to steal and coming up empty handed, took a pokie machine instead.
Club president Mick Miskell said police had found the machine on Sunnyside Road, on the far side of Garland, past Lyndhurst.
Mr Miskell said police had examined the poker machine as part of their investigation.
Around the same time, thieves hit the Lyndhurst Golf Club, although it appeared nothing of value had been taken.
Chifley Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Gerard Powell said the investigation remained active.
“Inquiries are continuing with a number of lines of inquiry,” Inspector Powell said.
“Any information will be gratefully accepted.”
Inspector Powell said police had not established a link between the break-ins at the Blayney and Lyndhurst golf clubs but kept an “open mind”.
“We are investigating both and have not discounted a link,” Inspector Powell said.
Mr Miskell said the pokie machine stolen from Blayney was mostly empty and only had $100 in at the time.
While insurance is expected to replace the machine, Mr Miskell said the club would face a higher premium in future.
“The community have offered a lot of support,” he said.
“It’s just disappointing when it happens.”
Mr Miskell said it was the third time the club had been robbed in two years, with previous robberies targeting the club’s greens keeper shed and stocks of cigarettes and money.
He said the club had upgraded cameras after the thefts in 2016 and expected more alarm sensors would be added around the clubhouse.
“This impacts the bottom line, everything that's damaged has to be replaced by volunteers,” Mr Miskell said.
“There’s a hefty cost in insurance excess and the club expects a bigger premium next year.”
