Rams fullback Stammers scored the game’s opening points, latching onto a nice grubber from Rebecca Ford in the 10th minute to see her side out to an early advantage against Monaro at Cowra’s Sid Kallas Oval.
Western’s win was sealed by a 48th-minute try to Bathurst St Pat’s player Michelle Somers, who evaded the Monaro defence to score and book her side’s passage to face Riverina at West Wyalong on Saturday.
Rams coach Mick Armstrong was delighted to get the win but lamented his side’s inconsistent performance.
“We were a bit patchy in stages but I thought our first 15 minutes of the match was outstanding,” Armstrong said.
“A few lapses in concentration allowed them back in.”
