The Down to Earth Garden Expo and Plant Fair is back again in 2017 and is shaping up to be one of the biggest events of its kind in the Central West.

Once again the expo will highlight ecology and sustainability along with the relaxation and pleasure to be derived from gardening.
There will be workshops and pop up talks from garden gurus including ABC Central West's Reg Kidd speaking on vegies and more, locally based landscape designer Sally Bourne on the basics of good garden design, Chris Cuddy from Perennialle on drought proofing your garden, Frank Malfroy on bees in the backyard, organic specialist Sally Milne on growing heirloom fruit trees and Paul Kirkpatrick will speak about the art of perfect pruning.
Not only will you will have the opportunity to connect with other enthusiasts, gardeners will also have the exclusive opportunity to purchase rare and unusual plants direct from a wide variety of specialist growers, including perennials, heirloom fruit and vegetables, roses, maples, irises and so much more. In addition the event will showcase stunning Australian garden sculpture which will be for sale from a range of artisans in the beautiful rural setting of the Carcoar Showground.
Enter the competition for garden art created from recycled materials. Artwork must be comprised of 70 per cent or more recycled/recyclable/reused materials and all entries must be on site at the Carcoar Showground by 8am on the Sunday. The judging will be based on creative expression and the innovative use of recycled material. For more details email: chmuseum@hotmail.com. There will be plenty of fun for the kids along with good food and coffee. Come and enjoy the big day out for garden lovers in the central west.
The D2E Garden Expo at the Carcoar Show Ground on Sunday April 23 will be the place to be. All proceeds go to the Carcoar Hospital Museum restoration fund.
Congratulations Louise
From all reports The Textures of One art weekend was a great success. Congratulations to Louise Purcell from Carcoar Pottery on winning the grand prize for her outstanding totem creation. This year also sees Carcoar Pottery celebrate 25 years of trading in Carcoar.
Passio Christi
Easter celebrations in Carcoar will feature the Passio Christi. On Good Friday, April 14, there will be a Combined Way of the Cross starting at 10am in the grounds of St. Paul's Anglican Church and finishing at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Shalom House of Prayer, Carcoar. All are invited to join in.
Co-ordinator Appointed
The Carmanhurst Villages Association, incorporating Carcoar, Mandurama and Lyndhurst, has appointed Danielle Stonestreet to the position of Community Development Coordinator. The main aspects of the role of the coordinator will be to advocate for the relevant community of interest, support locally based community organisations to coordinate and promote local events, and to source external funding for local community projects.
“We are very pleased to have Danielle working for our villages and look forward to seeing some exciting outcomes," Carmanhurst president Eric Foote said.
