Mayor Scott Ferguson said that the equestrian centre would contribute directly into the local economy by increasing visitor numbers and overnight stays.
“We recognised that dressage and other equestrian sports are increasing rapidly in popularity, not only for competitors and their families, but for visitors who are captivated by the magnificent showmanship of the sport,” he said.
The arenas have already proven their mettle following the recent championships held by the Central West Dressage Group whose President, Beth McLean, sung the praises of the facility and what it has to offer into the future.
“These arenas are the beginning of an overall plan for the Equestrian area of the Blayney Showground which will eventually include an indoor arena, stabling and jumping arena,” she said.
