After years of cooking and teaching French cuisine in Sydney and France, owner Joey Cunningham has returned home coming full circle and expanded her existing French café into the first French restaurant in Millthorpe. Gone are the French inspired homewares. Now Millthorpe village and tourists are open to a new experience with exquisite French cuisine. Complimenting the existing French café which is open from Wednesday to Sunday, the restaurant is open on Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm.
“Already we have French conversation evenings taking place once a month so this is a bonus with adding a restaurant,” Cunningham said. “The French restaurant has a limited menu serving traditional French cuisine and there is an option for customers to BYO.
“This is a very exciting time for the western side of Victoria Street in Millthorpe which boasts not only Le Billot de Boucher café and restaurant but the Millthorpe Motel, Slow Wine Cellar Door, the Bower Bird Old Wares, the new Little Peppertree and Prue Hawke’s art gallery.”
REVITALISED OVAL
After two years, the wait is over. Millthorpe residents and community have anxiously watched the revamping of Redmond Oval and it’s now officially opening on Tuesday, 14 March at 10am by The Hon. Paul Toole and Blayney Council Mayor Scott Ferguson. As day-to-day works continued to revitalise Redmond Oval ever so slowly during tumultuous weather in winter last year, the work has paid off into a fully-fledged community and sporting facility. The man behind the grant and work to save Redmond Oval, Michael Truloff commented that we are delighted with the work that has gone into not only the oval but the rotunda, canteen and extended toilet block facilities.
“The oval is now designed to contain any sporting activity and community events – it is rock solid. The toilet block and canteen area and the rotunda have been completely upgraded and extended.
“Car parking is now moved to the southern side of the oval and in front of the canteen and toilet block we aim to landscape into a green area.
“Overall this has been a two year project with planning taking six months and another 14 months for reconstruction.
“This is the first stage of completion and the second part will be landscaping and beautification of the entire area including planting many trees.
“The P&C also raised $9K in the last round of community fundraising and this goes towards seating and footpaths. There are many opportunities to expand not only all sporting event but many community events and activities. This is a fantastic example on how communities, local government and state government come together.”
