Last year the Millthorpe community benefited to the tune of $500,000 to upgrade the sloping Redmond Oval, and now community groups, sports clubs and councils in the Bathurst electorate are being encouraged to apply for up to $1 million dollars to help them deliver an important sports infrastructure project for their communities.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole is inviting eligible groups to apply for grants between $500,000 and $1 million for new or upgraded sport and recreation infrastructure projects.
Mr Toole said the grants are being made available under the NSW Government’s 2016/17 ClubGRANTS program for projects providing modern and safe community facilities for people to take part in sport and recreation and improve fitness and wellbeing.
“I encourage all eligible groups to consider submitting an application for a project that will make a real difference to their community and their organisation. Particular emphasis in this round will be placed on projects that benefit disadvantaged and regional communities,” he said.
One recent example of successful funding through ClubGRANTS in Blayney Shire is the refurbishment of Redmond Oval in Millthorpe.
Although the Redmond Oval project has been delayed by rain, the project includes a comprehensive refurbishment, complete with irrigation system, stormwater that drains into a large underground tank, conduit for lighting, terraced seating and a new canteen all encased in a white picket fence.
“During this term of government, around $50 million in ClubGRANTS will be provided to local communities across NSW to support three categories of infrastructure: sport and recreation, arts and culture and emergency relief facilities,” said Mr Toole.
“Sport and recreation are such an important part of our communities and the NSW Government is committed to investing in facilities that will provide opportunities for the use and enjoyment of activities for many years to come.”
