Breakfast at the Blayney Farmer’s Markets, Christmas raffle, Masquerade Ball and sundry other events have all contributed to hopefully raise the necessary funds.
Blayney Shire Mayor Scott Ferguson was more than happy to hand over the cheque.
“Council is pleased to be able to present this cheque to the Blayney Rotary Club on behalf of local residents and the community who participated in the Winter Wonderland Movie Night. These funds will provide an additional boost towards seeing a Palliative Care Unit constructed in Blayney,” Cr Ferguson said.
“It is impressive to see the collaborative spirit of residents, businesses, community groups and government working together towards a common goal to look after future care needs of our local residents and indeed, the broader regional community.”
President of the Rotary Club of Blayney, Bill Burdett said that architect drawings and engineering specifications are currently being considered and final options would be known by the end of August.
“We are well on track to reach our target. At this time, the Rotary Club of Blayney, have cash and grant commitments totaling close to $100,000 with a further letter on hand and other community offers bringing the total to approximately $130,000,” Mr Burdett said.
“Requests for quotations from builders can then be considered.”
