The Millthorpe 2167 Project aims to tease out ideas in a variety of community workshops using thought-provoking media such as drama and visual arts.
Organiser Zoe Newman told the Murmurs that it is all about “exploring young people’s ideas about how they envisage their town 150 years from now”.
“The project aims to connect young people, cultivate their creativity and imagination and develop their artistic skills across a range of art forms.”

History on move
AS mentioned in Murmurs last month, local historian John Willing has begun compiling a book on the historic homes of Millthorpe and district to celebrate the village’s sesquicentenary in spring next year.
It will be one of the, if not the, largest book on Millthorpe’s history ever produced and will feature about 60 rural and urban homes and their histories.
A unique feature will be that the section on each home will be written by the owners.
The project is being run as a sub-committee of the Millthorpe Village Committee under the control of an editorial committee made up of John and Lois Willing, Rosemary Amos, Jacki Irvine, Anne Harrison and Harvey Lavers.
