Group 10 rugby league fans will find out the answer on Saturday afternoon when former Australian representative Mark O’Meley runs out for St Pat’s against Blayney at Bathurst Sportsground.
O’Meley – affectionately known by footy fans as ‘Ogre’ – played 15 Tests for the Kangaroos, had 10 State of Origin caps for NSW and also lined up in the front row for the City Origin team.
He also won an NRL premiership in 2004 with the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs.
St Pat’s premier league coach Kurt Hancock praised O’Meley for his efforts.
“It is really creating a lot of interest having him come here. He is a very simple bloke, but he really gives a lot back.”
“It is outstanding for a player of his calibre to give his time and share his experience. It is something that more players like him should do.”
