Trunkey Public School's annual play was held on Friday, December 11 at the Trunkey Community Hall to a capacity crowd.

The evening's entertainment commenced with a play, 'Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.'

Seventeen students, from Kindergarten to Year 6, including a Pre-Kinder student, performed the story of Sadako Sasaki, who lived in Hiroshima at the time of the atomic bombing by the United States.

Two Japanese students spent five weeks at the school during Term 3 and the class studied the book, 'Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes' during this time.

Audience members found a paper crane on their chair when they entered the hall.

The delicate, intricately made paper cranes were sent to the school by Sona, Sara and their schoolmates in Japan.

The message portrayed throughout the entire play was one of hope and the need to restore peace and understanding across the world.
