The Computers on Wheels (COW) integrates an Electronic Medical Records (eMR) system where a patient's medical records are put into a central system, giving staff the most up-to-date information on any patient who checks into Blayney Hospital.

The eMR system is shared across the hospital network and will improve the quality of care and service delivered.

"I think it will make it easier and certainly being able to track what's happened with patients in other hospitals will improve the care that we provide," said hospital services manager Kathy Hillier.

Training coordinator Mel Harris said the introduction of the new system really benefits the patients.

"Its been in Sydney for many years now and now it is out in the Western area," she said.

"Its fantastic for patients coming to Blayney because when they get their discharges from places like Bathurst and Dubbo, they'll (hospital staff) will be able to see exactly what's happened to them so it's really good for the patient."

Blayney hospital staff have been trained in using the equipment and will continue to implement the new system over the next couple of weeks.
