BLAYNEY pair Steve Lane and Will Ingram have been suspended until the 2015 Group 10 season’s finals series, with the former handed a potentially season-ending ban.
Hammered with a high-grade dangerous throw charge out of the Bears’ round 14 clash with St Pat’s, Ingram was originally facing an eight-game ban.
But, at a hearing on Thursday night, the Group10 judiciary suspended Ingram for five weeks, three of which are suspended.
Having served one week already during Blayney’s 26-10 loss to CYMS, Ingram will be free to play in week one of the semi-finals, with Blayney’s next fixture a bye before the final round blockbuster against Workies in Lithgow.
Lane, however, hasn’t been as lucky.
The veteran pivot has been dealt a cruel blow, banned for three weeks - none of which is suspended - after hitting St Pat’s half Joey Coughlan late in the same game Ingram was placed on report.
Handed a moderate striking charge, Lane contested the grading but wasn’t successful and will serve the remaining two weeks of his suspension during the Bears’ clash with Lithgow and the first week of the play-offs, which could potentially be an elimination semi-final.
If the Bears are knocked out in week one of the semis, Lane will have played his last game in 2015.
