Nathan Burns a Blayney junior who recently was awarded the Johnny Warren medal for the best A-League player of the season as voted on by other players, was mobbed by the star struck youngsters.
This is the first time that Nathan has been home in two years and the meet and greet day gave our juniors a chance to meet a "REAL SOCCERROO."
Nathan started his soccer career in the Blayney juniors and had a dream, he worked hard and sacrificed many things but it has now paid off.
Playing for the Wellington Phoenix this season and being top goal scorer for the A-League as well as being part of the team that won the Asian Cup, he has had a very successful season and we are sure there is more to come from him.
The Blayney juniors were most certainly impressed with his juggling skills and his willingness to sign their balls, shirts, shoes and anything else they had.
It was a great chance for the juniors to meet someone who was once just like them, enjoying their Saturday morning game of soccer.
His medal and the Asian cup were on display and many of the junior players where super impressed learning that Nathan had started in the same club that they were in now.
"Coming back here to the local club really is touching for me," Nathan said.
"I spent a lot of time here, this is where it all started so it's great to come back and see this kind of support," Nathan said about the morning held at the Blayney Showground.
Blayney Junior Soccer would like to express its thanks to Nathan and his family for spending some time with the juniors on Saturday morning, an experience that will be remembered by many for years to come.
Nathan leaves for a training camp in Dubai in the next few weeks and Blayney Juniors would like to wish him well and good luck for the season to come.
They would also love to have him back again to share his experiences with our soccer community.
