As presented by Central NSW Tourism Executive Officer Lucy White and Chairman Norm Mann to the February meeting of Blayney Shire Council, based on a four year average, the Australian Bureau of Statistics tourism data shows the Shire is boasting an increase in tourism with an average of 35,000 visitors visiting per year.

The increase in Blayney Shire's activities offers many unique events and all contribute to the increase in tourism activity across the region.

Blayney Shire mayor Cr Scott Ferguson said the average $13 million per year contributing figure is great for business and events.

"The Blayney Shire community is thriving and the recent introduction of new events to the region has lifted business and the community," Cr Ferguson said.

"The Blayney 2 Bathurst Bike race, the Carcoar Running Cup, the Millthorpe Markets, Mandurama's Millamolong Polo, Blayney, Carcoar and Neville Agricultural Shows, Newbridge Winter Solstace, Lyndhurst Market Day and now the Blayney Farmers' Market all contribute to a major increase of visitors into the region.

"We envisage and predict the recently established events such as the Carcoar Cup, Blayney Farmers Markets and the Millamolong Polo and the Blayney to Bathurst B2B, which were established in the past couple of years, will significantly contribute to a larger increase of visitors from the data of 35,000.

"In close proximity from Bathurst and Orange, the Blayney Shire region offers so many opportunities for visitors to experience the beautiful unspoiled villages of Carcoar, Millthorpe, Neville, Lyndhurst, Mandurama and Newbridge and countryside while visiting the food and wine festivals and major events in the region."

Blayney Shire Council is working closely with Destination NSW and Central NSW Tourism to market the region to domestic and international travellers.

"Increased tourism creates more business, employment and opportunities for the Blayney Shire region," Cr Ferguson said.
