We had around 130 stalls and a great crowd of people through the gate, most of whom left carrying purchases.
The Progress Association barbecue was very busy all morning.
It was good to see so many stallholders coming early and using the facilities of the Sportsground and the village.
Many of the sellers camped overnight and said what a pleasant spot it was for camping.
The Progress Association would like to thank everybody who assisted on the day, Council staff for preparing the grounds and delivering and picking up bins, Millthorpe Murmurs for their mention in the column, the Chronicle for the write-up and all the locals who came out, either to buy or to sell.
Word of mouth is the best advertising for this kind of event, so please spread the word and help us to make future Swaps bigger and better than even this one.
The Association has been collecting signatures on a petition to have the Railway Station opened for use again, and have collected several hundred so far.
Our local members (State and Federal) and the Labor candidate for this electorate have been invited to accept this petition.
We are still awaiting their response - it's a bit like waiting for a train to stop at Newbridge - however, we live in hope.
The Stringybark Craft Shop is well stocked at the moment, and is worth a visit to browse through the craft items and bric-a-brac.
We have a lot of second hand books as well.
Come out for a drive and have a look on the weekend afternoons, or ring Robynne (6368 1058) or Jan (63681 185) if you would like to come at other times.
Our next big function at Newbridge will be the Midwinter Solstice Market Day in June - keep it in mind for a fun family day.
