Each year, the Millthorpe Village Committee presents Community Awards to residents who have made our village a better place.
The 2014 Awards were presented on Wednesday, December 17 at a special Christmas barbecue meeting at Mill Green. It was a perfect evening, and the Green was looking a picture after much planting, weeding, watering and improvement by a dedicated team of Millthorpians.
The worthy recipients were:
Mary Gardiner for her Outstanding Contribution to Millthorpe Public School,
Julia Boag as Young Achiever of the Year,
Lisa Daly and Warwick Sharples for Dedicated Service to Millthorpe RFS, and
Eric McDonald for his care, active involvement and stewardship of Redmond Oval.
Museum receives Grant and major donation
Millthorpe's Historical Society and Golden Memories Museum are on a roll towards the opening of the Trevor Pascoe Pavilion and major revitalisation later this year. Last Wednesday, January 7, Bathurst MP and Minister for Local Government Paul Toole presented the Millthorpe & District Historical Society with a $10,000 grant from the State Government Community Building Partnership.
The grant is for recladding of one of the Museum's exhibition buildings which houses house-drawn vehicles and the huge pea viner machine.
The Museum has also received a major donation from Cadia Valley Operations, part of the company's routine support for the organisation. The $20,000 donation will largely be used for the Trevor Pascoe Pavilion.
Plans are now well under way for what will be housed in the new Pavilion, which is due to open to the public late this year.
The theme will be Australian Inventions, and here the Museum is drawing on a very fertile area.
There are already eighteen large items and machines in various parts of the Museum, and these will be assembled into the one area.
Another 60 have been researched, and will be featured on display boards in the Pavilion.
The Murmurs will feature a number of these over the next few months in the lead-up to the opening of our extended Museum.
