Six members of the Blayney-based Central West Aussie Martial Arts and Fitness Academy's Punch 4 Pound Muay Thai gym are set to showcase their skills on the national stage this weekend, complete with a support crew in tow.
As they cross over the Queensland border headed for the Tallebudgera Leisure Centre ready to compete in the Muay Thai Australia National Championships, they won't be hard to miss. It's the largest group representing one individual club from NSW, with competitors in the under 9's through to the seniors.
Bryce Ipon-Hickson will be fighting in the 30kg 9 years Tykes, 14-year-old Candice Milne from Carcoar is in the cadets female 54 kg category, Lachlan Robertson is up against competitors in the 15,16,17 years junior welterweight 63.5 - 67kg division, Scott McGlashan will be competing in the junior light welterweight 60 - 63.5kg, Aaron Bathe in the seniors light welterweight 60 - 63.5kg and Dylan McNabb in the seniors welterweight 63.5 - 67kg.
Saturday's qualifying fights and Sunday's finals will be the culmination of weeks of training for the group, where they have worked hard to prepare for the challenge that awaits against top-flight competitors.
But they won't be there to just make up the numbers - confidence is running high through the Academy that their talented Muay Thai fighters can mix it with the best and bring home a national title. Success on the Gold Coast will also deliver qualification for the Muay Thai World Championships to be held in Thailand in August 2015.
It will also bring the added bonus of bragging rights when Blayney plays host to the Conquest 6 Muay Thai promotions event on November 29.
