Reigning champions of Western Division, the team was ranked in the top 8 of NSW Public Schools and was one of 527 teams to enter the competition.
Drawing Wauchope Public in the first quarter-final, and after a shaky first half, the girls found their rhythm and got on with the job to come away with a 27-11 victory.
In the semi-final the team came up against Newport Public.
This was a very high pressure match with both teams scoring goal for goal and the lead changing every couple of minutes.
Going into the fourth quarter, the score was 22-20 to Newport.
Blayney came out strong but were unfortunate to hand over possession with some basic unforced errors which Newport capitalised on. Newport's defence held strong conceding only one goal to Blayney in the last quarter, final score 31-21 to Newport.
Newport went on to take out a convincing win in the state final over Tamworth South.
The result placed Blayney Public School third in the PSSA State Knockout, an amazing achievement for our girls, families, school, community and region.
