Blayney Shire Council will pocket almost $2.5 million from the federal government's Financial Assistance Grant program to spend on infrastructure throughout the shire.

Under the program, Council will obtain $791,538 in the 2014-15 financial year to spend on roads.
However, Blayney was allocated the least amount of money for roads in comparison to the other seven councils throughout the Calare federal electorate. Oberon picked up $878,260, while the remaining councils each gained more than $1 million.
Blayney fared slightly better when it came to general purpose funding, with $1,616,710 to spend, a little more than Oberon.
Again, the other councils picked-up more - obtaining in the vicinity of $2.5 million - Cabonne - and $4.4 million - Bathurst.
Areas that the money can be spent on include infrastructure, health, recreation, environment and employment.
