Indecent assault offences across the Blayney shire were twice as prevalent in 2013 than the previous 12 months, new statistics show.

The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research released their September quarterly update last month, with indecent assault offences doubling from four incidents in the 12 months to September 2012 to eight in the 2013 corresponding period.
It was one of five major crime categories that recorded an increase in Blayney alongside non-domestic violence related assault, sexual assault, break and enter from a non-dwelling and steal from a dwelling.
Of those, non-domestic violence related assault offences jumped from 13 incidents to 21 and break and enter enter from a non-dwelling which recorded an increase from 15 offences to 25.
However the statistics also showed the remaining 12 crime categories recorded either a decrease or had remained stable.
Malicious damage to property led the downward trend, falling to 83 offences in the year to September 2013 from 92 in the previous 12 months and break and enter from a dwelling dropped to 23 offences from 28.Domestic violence related assault, motor vehicle theft and fraud were also down.
Across the central west, violent offences had decreased by 4.4 per cent in the last two years, according to the report.
