“As well they supported the many and varied musical and drama items that were performed by Blayney schools and church member,” she said.
A beautiful balmy summer’s evening provided the ideal situation for the large gathering at Blayney’s Carrington Park.
Many people took advantage of the festive atmosphere to enjoy a picnic tea in the park or to buy something from the yummy BBQ provided by Blayney Rotary Club.
Sweet treats were provided by the Carcoar and District Pony Club and the ice cream van was a welcome addition on the warm evening.
Rev Andrew Parkinson said he was thrilled to see so many of the community come along, and the willingness of all the schools and churches in Blayney to enthusiastically support this Christmas event. He said it was wonderful to see the smiles on so many people’s faces as they celebrated together God’s message of peace, love and hope.
It was obvious the children, in particular , had great fun with the glow sticks and glow bracelets with more than 400 sold.
As darkness descended the multicoloured effect of all these being waved about created a wonderfully Christmassy effect.
Father Tim Cahill showed creativity in turning his glow bracelets into an enormous pair of glow spectacles, a most fetching look!
Anna the puppet delighted the children and they cheered her loudly.
Poor Anna got confused and thought the Wise Men brought Frankenstein the monster to visit the baby Jesus.
The children knew it was Frankincense, a valuable perfume gift, and were glad Rev Parko could help Anna get her facts straight!
All in all, a fun night of Christmas cheer and a reminder that, most of all, Christmas is about the gift of love.
