Blayney Lions 8 def Millthorpe Black 1
The juggernaut rolls on with the Lions recording their third victory in succession last Saturday.
All team members performed strongly and displayed a maturity beyond their years.
The Millthorpe team faced uncompromising attack from Amy Corbett, Connor Hadlow, Will Kearney, Wyatt Loughlin and George Wakem.
Our defensive structure was something to behold with Millthorpe attacks quickly snubbed out.
Lightning quick lion counter attacks left our opponents in grim spirits as they gamely trudged back to kick off yet once again.
Thanks go to the Millthorpe team for a good natured game played in great spirit.
Will Kearney was the player of the week.
Blayney Tigers vs. Millthorpe Gold
On Saturday the tigers took the field against Millthorpe gold.
The boys; Brendan O’Neil, Tyson Hira, Lewis Falcke, Eric Frost, Josh Dowsett and Henry Molloy, along with their parents, were glad that it was a bit warmer then last weekend.
In the first half coach Greg Frost concentrated on getting the boys focused on the game and introducing the idea of marking your players.
Half time saw the boys enjoy their oranges and dinosaurs before they were energised and ran back on to practice what they had been learning.
All the boys were trying very hard to mark their players.
Henry Molloy and Brendan O’Neil are proving to be strong in attack while Tyson Hira has shown fantastic defensive skills.
Josh, Eric and Lewis played well in the centre of the field and all boys showed improved ball skills, even managing to get a few balls into the net.
Brendan O’Neil was named player of the week.

Canobolas Royal Blue 4 def Blayney Dolphins 2
The revamped dolphins side for 2011 consists of Nicholas Jones, Erryn Payne, Louis Jennings, Nathan Cockburn, Kailey Burns, Aaliyah Hira and Soveron Fitzpatrick, who was absent last weekend.
Our new energized coach Erin Hunter lead the Dolphins into a great start whilst Aaliyah waited on the sidelines as first substitute and Kailey worked hard assisting the Canobolas team since they were short of players.
The dolphins showed some passing skills and lots of running until Erryn surprised the crowd with the first goal.
Erryn then rested as Aaliyah inserted herself with a big kick-in from the back line. Canobolas desperately tried to score with humorous results until finally they placed it in as it went along the back line.
Louis, Nicholas, and Nathan all tried their best and were relieved to eat their oranges and snakes at half time.
The second half commenced with Nicholas helping Canobolas and Kailey resting on sidelines as substitute.
Erryn demonstrated some powerful kicks before Nathan supported her and poked the ball over the line to score.
Kailey charged around with Louis and Aaliyah as Nathan rested from his big efforts and sore knee.
Nicholas - despite playing for the opposition – played extremely well with a superbly angled shot in goal with his left foot, keeping Canobolas in the lead.
Canobolas tried to score again but were stopped by Louis who kicked it out; however, Canobolas never gave up and score two more times.
Erryn Payne was player of the week.
Kinross Wollaroi Pumas 6 def Blayney Marlins 5
A tremendous effort by the team this week suffering the narrowest of losses to a very strong opponent.
The Marlins featuring Matt Hadlow, Drew and Josie Kearney, Brooke Loughlin, Hannah Richardson and Henry Wakem, acquitted themselves well given that much of the team is playing soccer for the first time this year.
Despite playing a well drilled and organised team the result was at issue until almost the final whistle with both sides trading goals.
Matt Hadlow’s kicks from end to end were something to behold as was Brooke and Henry’s relentless attacks on the opposing goal.
The twins had the opposition seeing double and Hannah was tenacious in defence.
With the team improving week on week; season 2011 holds great promise.
Matt Hadlow was named player of the week.
