The water levels have sunken yet again, which is the last thing the sailing club wanted after a 3-4 year wait since the last race on the once over flowing Carcoar Dam.
The drought has not been kind to the sailing club who need the water levels to be at least 10 per cent capacity to be safe enough to sail on.
“Our numbers have dramatically reduced to the point where I can count the members on two hands,” Mr Body said.
The sailing club have “lovely infrastructure and a beaut boat shed” which cannot be used due to the dam level being so low.
Sailability Western, the club that supports sailors with disabilities, has close connections with the Carcoar Dam Sailing Club as they share amenities and raise funds together.
Sailability treasurer Timothy Hone said, the club has been forced to shift their sailing to Ben Chifley Dam near Bathurst and Lake Canobolas near Orange.
“We have been chasing water.
“It’s harder on the volunteers,” he said.
“We haven’t been able to sail at Carcoar Dam for two years now.”
The Sailability club will be hoping to get back on the water at the end of October.
Lake Canobolas near Orange will be the venue if Carcoar Dam is not up to the minimum sailing capacity of 10 per cent.
