The day, dedicated to the work of The McGrath Foundation, raised $4,500 through the raffle, auction, sponsorship and donations which will be forwarded to this respected organisation.
The colour pink took centre stage with stallholders, residents, committee members and show patrons of all ages making an effort to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
The late Jane McGrath touched the hearts of every Australian and the support shown on show day just emphasized how much respect people have for the work of The McGrath Foundation.
Local businesses and individuals all contributed to the fundraising for this event.
Adult gate entries were up 35 per cent on last year, showing a clear indication that the Trunkey Creek Annual Show continues to attract show patrons from all areas of the region and further afield.
The organising committee was overwhelmed with the success of the day to pull off another successful show.
There were 375 entries in the photography section, 55 fleeces in the wool section, over 50 entries in the alpaca fleece judging and all other sections showed an increase on last year’s figures.
1,157 bras were collected and ingeniously displayed around every area of the showground.
Bathurst Regional councillor Bobby Bourke was true to his colour in his multicoloured suit made with some of the men’s ties that were collected, when he was fundraising for prostrate cancer awareness earlier this year.
He also wore a pink 24 DD bra during his speech.
From all accounts after the event he has been declared the unofficial council representative for Trunkey Creek.
The popular local bush band “Collector” and the Scot’s School pipes and drums with their distinctive “pink” feather in their headpieces did not disappoint the crowd.
Special guest, Assistant Police Commissioner of Western NSW Stephen Bradshaw presented the prestige award to Brian and Lyn Seaman as winner of “The Australian Champion Fleece”.
The Land 2010 Royal Sydney Showgirl, Clare McDonald opened the Show emphasizing and encouraging young Australian women to follow their dreams.
Nicole Carson, breast cancer nurse from the Young region who represented The McGrath Foundation, congratulated the committee on organizing such an inspiring event.
