Looking resplendent, the students gathered at Carrington Park for the official photo before heading “back to school” for the last time for the evening.
Proud parents and friends, as well as staff, gathered for pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard before each graduate was formally presented to the crowd of over 300 well-wishers.
Students were given final best wishes from the Principal Sue Jones, Year Adviser Spencer Calveley and Captains Adam Lowe, Ashleigh Carroll, Jake Tranter and Rachelle Perkins.
Sam Guthrie and Molly-Jo Braddon had the last words before cutting the cake and signalling the start of dinner.
An excellent meal was provided and families made big queues for photos. These will be on display soon at the high school and can be ordered there also.
The evening was very successful and thanks to our P&C who provided the drink service - on such a hot night it was a busy venue.
Students now await results on the December 16 though a number already have apprenticeships and early-entry university offers organised.
ART SHOW PULLS THE RIGHT MOVES
Another successful Heritage Art Show was held on Monday night.
On display were works from all ten Heritage Schools. These included entries in the ‘Move’ themed art competition, framed work from workshops held in all schools with visiting artists, the Blayney High P&C Art Competition and HSC major works.
A large crowd was on hand for the presentation of awards, to enjoy the music by Blayney High’s “The Conditions” and Ella Stevenson and were refreshed by the hospitality students.
Over the four years the quality of work has improved dramatically and the community and school should be proud of the potential art students around.
Thanks to local artists Nyree Reynolds, Rachel Meek, James Wynne, Victoria Theyers, Julie Simmons, Ruth Stone-Marques, Spencer Calveley and Geoff Pelley for their assistance.
Prizes were awarded in all stages – from Early Stage 1 to Stage 4 with an Open Multi-Media section.
First Place in each section went to:
Early Stage 1:Janene Dury
Stage 1:Lucy Wellsted
Stage 2:Trent Spackman
Stage 3:Nikita Marshall
Stage 4:Matthew Bottero
Multi-Media:Kaitlyn Johnson
The 2009 P&C Art Prize was awarded to Zech Rutherford.
THEY’RE HERE
Students gladly carted a large number of boxes up the Library stairs at Blayney High School as the Year 9 laptops finally arrived.
Hoping to have them distributed to students who have met the requirements by Friday, Principal Sue Jones said both staff and students are very excited at what this may mean for their teaching and learning.
Last Friday marked the start of the Digital Education Revolution at Blayney High School who will now boast an extraordinary level of technology for students. 2 Connected classrooms, 12 Interactive Smartboards, 6 computer rooms with an upcoming upgrade in the Library as well as the laptops will set Blayney High ahead of many schools.
