More than 400 people are expected to attend the funeral at the Goods Shed on the Wilson family’s property, Neville Siding at 11am.
As a mark of respect, Blayney Shire Council will close its doors for the day so staff can attend or help manage expected high traffic traveling to and from the funeral.
Cr Wilson was elected to council in 1993, becoming Deputy Mayor several times, and has been mayor since September 2005.
Cr Wilson leaves behind a wife, Betty, sons Mark and Rex, daughter-in-laws, Dorraine and Lucy and four grandchildren.
Soon after Monday’s council meeting opened, there was a minute’s silence in memory of one of Blayney’s most active seniors.
