Blayney Rams moved into third place when they coasted to a 55-7 victory over lowly placed Cudal at King George oval last Saturday.
The Rams took the field without established regulars Brad Henry, Tom Nixon, Chris Wilson, Neil Weber and Geoff Knox, whose return will complicate selections in the lead up to the semi-finals.
Blayney now has a real shot at contesting the President's Cup grand final. Players must have the belief they can break the stranglehold Yeoval and Molong have enjoyed over the years, and put in the final hard yards to take out the title.
The first half of Saturday's game saw the Rams travelling on auto-pilot with play disjointed and scrappy. However four tries were scored, one each to Steve Ryan, Julian Roche, Brad Worland and Brendan Newstead as the Rams cruised to a 24-7 half-time lead.
Captain Sam Nixon rallied the troops at the break and it was a more ruthless and organised Rams that got down to business in the second half.
Jack Ryan, Nixon, Andrew Oldham, Sam McCrae were over for tries, while Brendan Newstead rounded out the game with his second try, this along with his five conversions giving him a personal match tally of 20 points.
Fly half Brad Worland moved the ball well, his support play was rewarded with a try earning him three best and fairest points.
Number eight, Sam McCrae dominated lineouts and had a busy game in the loose, while enthusiastic halfback Andrew Oldham varied his play and kept the opposition guessing.
The player's player was voted a dead-heat with bustling Sam McCrae and dedicated Andrew Russ sharing the spoils.
Three competition games remain, Waratahs(away) this Saturday, Molong(away) and July 29 Orange Ag at home, a day on which the Club will acknowledge the generous support of it's 2006 sponsors.
