Nineteen people had their head shaved while everyone else in the hotel had their hair coloured.
The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave to Care and Cure is one of Australia's biggest fundraising events with 60,000 people across the country either shaving or colouring their hair.
Damon Taylor from the Royal Hotel said everyone was generous and it was an enjoyable night.
"It was a good turn out with around 80 to 100 people there," he said. "The people who had their hair coloured ranged in age from 18 up to 70."
"It really showed the generosity of a small town like Blayney."
Mr Taylor said it was a great effort by those who had their head shaved, especially Bill McKenna and George Taylor who managed to raise over $1,200 between them.
Peter Chapman was the main organiser of the event, while Mr Taylor said thanks also had to go to John Bright, Mark Taylor and Blayney Foods for their donation of prizes to the raffle held on the night.
A BBQ also raised proceeds which were donated to the Leukaemia Foundation.
The 19 who had their heads shaved were George Taylor, Bill McKenna, Skippy Kingham, Paul Sligar, Darren Cook, Damon Taylor, Ron Hartigan, Barry Edwards, Dom Langham, Ben McKenna, Darrell Hildebrandt, Brad Carmody, Nathan Bright, Gavin Cheney, Peter Chapman, Bruce Mendez, Phil Carside, Aaron Chapman and Justin Dwyer.
Other Shave for a Cure events were held in Blayney last week. Eight staff members at Blayney Galvanising raised $250.
At Blayney High the Student Representative Council offered hair colouring, waxing and shaving to students and staff at the school on Friday March 11. Four staff members; Jacqui Irvine, Jerry Sheader, Mick Sloan and Owen Evans surrendered their hair for the cause as did students Gavin Woodhouse, Jessica Davis, Evan Smith, Blake Davis, Andrew Wilcockson and Ben Hone.
In a further effort to raise even more money three students waxed their legs and in the case of John Sandry both his chest and legs were waxed. Other keen waxers were Gavin Woodhouse and Alex Dean.
Local hairdressers Rosalie Keen and Helen hairdressers gave up their time and came to the school to shave the heads of volunteers. Submitted copy and Tim Kelly
