President Molly Avard extended a welcome to Mrs Betty Watchem, Zone 17 Representative, who had travelled to present Long Service Medals to a number of our members.
The street stall held recently for "Red Cross Calling" in March was very successful, and an amount of $450 is being forwarded to headquarters.
The branch wishes to place on record its appreciation for the wonderful support received once again from the community.
The demand for Trauma Teddies continues, and Shirley Cox distributes them tot he appropriate services.
A recent tally reveals that the following numbers have been delivered: Hospital 40; Pathologhy 9; Dentist 10; Doctors 7; Ambulance 8.
A number of friends (Including the Lee Hostel residents) knit and fill the Teddies, and this is much appreciated.
Notice was received of the biennial (two yearly) regional conference to be held in Dubbo on Thursday, June 24, 2004, where the speakers will be members of the Red Cross Field Staff, and Mr Andrew Dunkley for the ABC.
In presenting the Long Service Medals, Mrs Watcham congratulated the branch and the recipients on a total of 190 years' service represented by the medals.
40 years - Mrs Dorothy Moore; 30 years - Edna Dunkley and Margaret Fairbank; 20 years - Margaret Dowell and Ruth Oldham (both absent); 10 years - Helen Burton, Shirley Cox, Verlie Fowler, June James and Isabel Taylor.
President Molly Avard welcomed Mr Tim Kelly from The Blayney Chronicle, and presented Mrs Wathcam with a small token of appreciation for her attendance.
Mrs Watcham gave a very entertaining talk covering some of her experiences over the years.
The next meeting has been brought forward to 2.00 pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 as the normal monthly meeting day falls on the Queen's Birthday holiday.
