BLAYNEY shooter Jim Jeffrey has taken out the 135th annual Queen's prize competition at Sydney's ANZAC rifle range, scoring a perfect 500 over the course of the three-day event.
Shooting from distances as far back as 800 metres, Jeffrey hit the bullseye for 100 consecutive shots.
He beat 220 competitors from across Australia to claim the top prize in the NSW Rifle Association full bore target shooting event.
It's not the first time Jeffries has taken out the top prize - he also won it in 2006.
"It was one of the best scores I've ever shot," he said of his win.
"I've been shooting fairly well so I thought I had a good chance of winning."
For the past 40 years Jeffries has been shooting and his efforts with the sport are have clearly paid off towards the latter stage of his career.
"Last year I was in the Australian Rifle team and I shot at the world long range championships in Brisbane."
Spending time in the national time helped build Jeffries' confidence.
"It was a great experience and that extra training you put in really help," the Lyndhurst Rifle Club member said.
With fine form on his side, Jeffries next plans to tackle the Victorian Championships in March.
