BLAYNEY GOLF CLUB NEWS

Popular bar manager and golf club director Harry Rosser and his wife Doreen celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Monday January 1 2009, with a family gathering at the home of their daughter Beverley and son-in-law John Owen.

Harry retired from the Blayney Abattoir in 1990 where he was employed as a boiler attendant.

Almost immediately, he agreed to work at the golf club each Wednesday so that the lady golfers could have access to the clubrooms on their competition days.

What began as a past time activity for Harry soon turned into a seven-day activity, which included running the weekly chicken run.

What an experience this surely has been for Harry during the past twenty years.

He has been on hand to welcome visitors to the golf club from this district, interstate, and overseas. He has made many friends in this time.

There is nothing Harry enjoys more than a good yarn, and he is great company.

Both the Rosser’s are life members of the Blayney Golf Club.

Doreen has assisted Harry in the purchase of goods for the golf club for the past twenty years; this includes all manner of golf equipment, as well as beer, wine, soft drinks, and a variety of foodstuffs.

Her contribution has, and remains, absolutely necessary so that members and visitors are well catered for.

Congratulations Harry and Doreen for your wonderful contribution to all facets of the golf club and for achieving this milestone.

Bob was in good form throughout 2008 and got away to a good start this year.

Eleven golfers took part in the eighteen-hole event played on Monday of this week.

Nearest the pin for the ladies was Beryl Tolhurst and for the men it was Trevor Morley.

The Blayney Golf Club will host the CWD Veteran golfers next Monday, January 12.

The next Blayney and District Mixed Veteran’s competition at Blayney is to be held on Monday, January 19.
