BLAYNEY LADIES’ GOLF

The Foursome Championships have been finalized with the winners of the Scratch section being Gwen Hadlow and Helen Keen with 198 off the stick for 36 holes. Runners up were Sue Bevear and Wendy Crisp with 206.

Handicap winners were Collen Davis and Audrey Davis who teamed up well to have 143 nett for the competition. Congratulations to all.

Nearest the pin on the 2nd wet to Gwen Hadlow who also took the prize for the 6th. Beryl Tolhurst had a beautiful gobble 4 on the par 3 ninth hole.

Note the par event scheduled for the 11th November is the 5th Round game washed out back in September.

We wish a speedy recovery to Brice and Pay Burke who have spent some time in hospital.

BLAYNEY MEN’S GOLF NEWS

The chicken run held on Friday October 30 saw TJ Smith win the ROBANCO voucher with net 16 and Judd Walker was the chicken winner with net 21.

On Saturday October 31 members played the 2nd and final round of the 2009 2 person ambrose challenge.

The winners on the day were the team of Darren Jones and Peter O’Neill with net 58 and 3/4, the runners up were Simon Hamer and Mick Tyrrell with net 59 and 3/4.

The ball competition winners were Chris Reeves and Steve Emanuel net 61 and Phill Stammers and Mark Petersen net 61 and 1/4.

The nearest the pin winners on the par 3 2nd hole were A grade TJ Smith 96cms and TJ sunk the putt and B grade Peter Davis 230cms.

The final results after 36 holes saw Mick Tyrrell and Simon Hamer declared the 2009 A grade champions with 123, the A grade runners up are Darren Jones and Peter O’Neill with 128 and the A grade handicap winners are Mick Miskell and Col Harris on 120.

In B grade the 2009 champions are Peter Davis and John Davis with 141, the runners up are Chris Reeves and Steve Emanuel with 147 and the handicap winners are Bill Mulholland and Barry Winterton with 145 and 3/4.

The 36 hole handicap winners and winners of the Sel Johnston Memorial Shield are Mick Tyrrell and Simon Hamer with 116 and 1/2.

This Saturday members will play an 18 hole stroke event for the November monthly medal and the Don Eves trophy.

This is the final opportunity to qualify for the 2009 medal of medallists final next month. Good Golfing.

LYNDHURST GOLF CLUB NEWS

This time of year is certainly busy. We have just waved good bye to Rocktober and are now saying hello to Movember, hope you are doing your bit or supporting someone who is.

Golf on Sunday saw our ladies play for Pat McGovern’s trophy which was won by Jean Denzel. Thank you Pat and great work Jean.

The men played for a club trophy which was cleaned up in outstanding fashion by Brant Marmion. Brant did a terrific job over the weekend filling in for the wedding goers.

Members who attended Jason and Cassie’s big day had a fantastic time at what was a very happy occasion.

Coming up on Sunday 8 is closing day from 12 noon onwards.

Play is a three person ambrose. Even if you are not a golfer, come along and join us for afternoon tea and a chat.

A special mention for Laurence Hoad and Kelvin McGovern who have been doing a lot of work on the course in preparation, thank you both. Also thanks to Matty for writing the column for me last week.

The weekly member draw was not won.

Our local lads, the Cowboys are on a roll with another fine win on Saturday, this time over Grenfell. Best of luck this week against Cavaliers at Cowra.

VETERANS’ GOLF

The temperature was up, and so was the attendance. Welcome back to John Davis and Geoff Body.

Geoff suffered a broken leg several months ago while moving stock, but hit the ball well in his comeback game.

Winner on the day was Jim Tolhurst with 39pt. and the bagpipe player Jim McDiarmed had to be content with second with 36pts.

Nearest the pin went to consistent shapshooters Bob Costello and Beryl Tolhurst.

Back also today was Ted Dell after his overseas trip to the old Dart, and a new starter John Sligar was on the course today.

Next game November 16 as the District Veterans will be playing at Blayney on the 9th.

Sunnyridge Golf Club

Saturday the 23rd Nov was the final round of director’s trophy which is played over five rounds. Dianne Bunt won a count back from Rob Bunt.

Sunday the 1st Nov five players from sunny ridge set of to play at bigger to play in there tournament Tanya Bunt won 18 holes scratch. Dianne Bunt won the 18 hole handicap. Edna Maynard won 18 stableford. Great work girls.

In the men Rob Bunt won B grade scratch while Darren Cole too out the trophy for 18 hold stableford for C grade. Great work.

Saturday the 7th Nov we will be playing the Wayne Loader trophy. This is 12 hole 3 stick game.

Sunday 8th Nov is Lyndurst closing day.

Presentation night will be held on the 14th Nov at 7pm.

Don’t forget to all come along we have John Davis Day on Saturday 21st of Nov which is a 3 person Ambros starting time 12 midday.

Our closing day at Sunnyridge will be held on Sunday 22nd Nov at 12 midday. It will be a 3 person Ambrose so dust off your golf clubs and come along and have a fun day.

Don’t forget we now have golf carts but get in early to book them.

Our Brown Fox Café is opened every Friday night 6-8pm our $10.00 are very popular.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the club.
