Last Saturday Lyndhurst played Grenfell at Lyndhurst. Lyndhurst won the toss and took the option of batting first.
Lyndhurst lost their first wicket in the fifth over when Rhys LePoidevin fell to the bowling of S Walker after being caught for 27.
After another five overs, Grenfell claimed Lyndhurst’s second wicket when Justin Platt fell for 27 runs after being caught off the bowling of M Starr.
In the 19th over, Gavin Hoad was caught for 9 runs off the bowling of J Corkey.
Lyndhurst’s fourth wicket was claimed by Grenfell when Lenny Ross was caught again off the bowling of J Corkey.
From this moment, Lyndhurst’s highest scoring run partnership of 77 runs started between Nathan Howarth and Luke Battle, it was then ended when Luke was caught for 43 runs off the bowling of S Walker.
Tony Lees was then bowled for 10 runs by S Walker in the 34th over with the score being 6 for 177.
Joe Fuller was not out for 3 runs and Nathan Howarth 47 not out.
The best of the Grenfell bowlers were S Walker 3 for 47 and J Corkey with 2 for 30.
Grenfell’s batting innings started in style and after 6 overs the visitors lost their first wicket with J Anderson being bowled by Lenny Ross for 20 runs.
After 10 overs Grenfell was 1 for 41. They then lost their second wicket when S Wilson was caught off the bowling of Ben Battle for 7 runs in the 20th over.
From then on, the Grenfell wickets fell steadily until they were all out in the second last over for 126 runs.
T Knight was not out for 70 runs after opening and batting through the Grenfell innings.
Best of the Lyndhurst bowlers were Ben Battle with 3 for 31 and Tony Lees 2 for 9.
Luke Battle was voted Players Player for the match. This weekend Lyndhurst takes on Cavaliers at Cowra.
UNDER 15’S
Blayney lost the toss and were sent into bat by ORC.
With a steady start, Daniel Wallace and Andrew Reedy batted until the 7th over, when Daniel was caught for 19.
Andrew was the next to go when he was bowled for 6.
Lewis Bird came and went for 1, which brought Alex Bond and Ben Battle into bat.
They put on a good partnership until Ben was bowled for 16.
Alex hit a high ball which was caught out for 9.
Ben Pettit came in and went just as quickly with 2, followed closely by Zac Mooney for 4.
Liam Slatter and Adam Soar took to the ORC bowlers with Liam’s first ball being smashed over the boundary for six. Not to be out done, Adam stepped up and hit a bigger six to end the Blayney innings for 105.
The ORC run chase started bad when some great fielding by Adam Soar resulted in Indiana Strong being run out for 2 runs.
From then on wickets continued to tumble with Lewis Bird ripping through the top order ending up with figures of 2 for 6 off 4 overs, followed up by Ben Battle with 2 for 7 off 4 overs.
Wickets fell frequently with Alex Bond and Adam Soar getting one wicket each.
ORC found themselves in trouble when Ben Pettit took a wicket with his first ball.
ORC were all out for 21.
Man of the Match went to Daniel Wallace and Ben Battle for both having great games.
UNDER 13 MAROONS
The cricket season is under way and what a start for the boys this match. St Pats won the toss and sent Blayney in to bat.
Opening the batting were the Hobby boys- Ned and Lochie, who put on almost 50 runs before Ned was bowled out.
Jayden Fuller than joined Lochie who continued to accumulate runs getting 6 fours and a six!
Jayden’s total of 29 included 3 fours and a six before he was caught behind. The boys were now 2 for 94 in the 19th over.
Casey Wallace was next in. He and Lochie also put on a good partnership with Casey hitting 2 sixes and two fours!
However Casey was caught for 31 leaving Lochie still at the crease after an astonishing 24 overs.
Brandon Hahn joined him and although it was the last over St Pats were not giving up. They finally dismissed Lochie, caught for 57.
Alex Turner was than at the crease with Brandon Hahn and they put on 2 runs in that last over.
It was now time for the boys to un-pad and get out and field. St Pats were chasing 144. The first two bowlers were Jayden Fuller and Casey Wallace. Blayney were immediately on the attack with an LBW by Jayden.
It was the very next over and Stephen Craig took a wonderful catch off the bowling of Casey to make the score 2 for 13.
It was follow the leader as each new over saw another wicket fall with 2 to Jayden (LBW) and 1 to Casey (bowled).
At the 7th over St Pats were 5 wickets down for only 22 runs. In the 10th over Ned Hobby put on the spin and got a wicket, LBW. At the end of the day’s play St Pats were 6 for 136.
The second day of the match saw St Pats dismissed in the first 3 overs thanks to the continued excellent bowling of Jayden and Casey and the wicket keeping skills of Andrew Ryan.
Blayney went in to complete their first innings and despite the presence of a copperhead snake on the pitch the boys put on another 62 runs thanks to some excellent batting by Jeremy Kable who finished on 21 and Cody Smith on 10. Andrew was not out on 5.
Blayney then returned to the field and after a slow start the accurate bowling of the Hobbys saw both boys take 2 wickets for 3 runs.
Alex Turner’s bowling was efficient only giving away 2 runs in his over. Casey and Jayden made short work of the remaining St Pats players, Casey taking a wicket and Jayden an astonishing 5 wickets for only one run!
John Wyatt, Dave McKenzie and Josh Marshall all worked hard in the field with some accurate returns to the keeper.
Man of the match went to Jayden for his superb bowling, a total of 9 wickets for 23 runs.
