The Blayney opens and under 13’s cricket teams scratched up on their skills for the new season in a combined training session conducted by district coaches from Bathurst last Thursday.
Coach Dallas Battle said that it is the first year Blayney has been able
to field an Under 16’s team in four years.
“The coaches have come up to check the teams’ form and see what style we
have here,” he said. “The numbers are pretty strong and will get better as it goes along.”
The first competition round will be played against the Bathurst team in Bathurst this weekend.
Mr Battle said that only four of the players on the team have played cricket before.
The open team is up to 17 years of age while the under 16’s team has players as young as 13.
Anyone up to 17 years old who is interested in playing cricket should contact Dallas Battle on 6367 5107 or Kathy Smith at Blayney Real Estate.
