Cowboys go down to Carcoar

09 Feb, 2012 11:12 AM
A DEPLETED Lyndhurst Cowboys outfit played host to Carcoar on the weekend.

The Cowboys won the toss and elected to bat but the innings started badly with Gavin Hoad being run out without facing a ball thanks to some sharp fielding by Adam Soar.

Ben Battle and Bob Mitchell settled into a 24 run partnership before Lewis Bird dismissed both of them, bringing Joe Fuller and Blair Asmis to the crease.

Joe and Blair batted aggressively, putting together a 30 run partnership until they were both dismissed by Pav to leave Lyndhurst 5 for 69 after 24 overs.

Carcoar bowlers then took control of the game taking the last five wickets for 14 runs.

It was then Lyndhurst's turn to take the field. Gavin Hoad was at his best taking a wicket in his very first over.

Gavin and Ben Battle continued to apply pressure, creating lots of half chances.

It wasn't until the 16th over that Ben was rewarded with the wicket of Baz Hobby for 24.

Lyndhurst then took another two wickets, M Bevan bowled by Gavin Hoad for 18 and Ferret caught by Ben Battle, bowled by Zac Lees for 31. Pete Smith and Pav then saw Carcoar home with the bat giving them a well earned 6 wicket win.

Next week Lyndhurst take on the Turtles at Oliver Oval in Cowra.
