Playing a one day game in Raglan against City Colts we lost the toss and where sent into bat. With an opening combination of Leon Cowan and Brian Cowan nothing could go wrong, until Brian was out early LBW for 9. With this early loss David Lawrence came to the crease only to be beaten by a swinging ball that shattered middle stump. The team then called on Dave Dixon to save the game but unfortunately he was caught for 0, things weren’t flowing our way until a slim Mal Ewen stepped onto the pitch. In a stroke of brilliance Mal and Leon put on a 25 run partnership with Mal hitting a top score of 6. Mal unleashed upon the bowling attack so viciously that he snapped his bat, and needed a placement for he wanted to continue on his current form. Next to fall was Leon who was batting well until being caught on the boundary with a score of 42. The team however was soon starting to crumble with our batsmen losing another 3 wickets for 18 runs. All however was not lost as Nathan Howarth came to the crease and as confident as ever notched up 47, before chopping the ball back onto his own stumps. This brought the number 11 to the crease Indiana Strong, with his old man, Terry Strong who together put on a last wicket partnership of 72 with Indiana unbeaten on 35 not out and Terry 26, taking the teams total to 10/190 of 35 over’s.
