Last year the twins’ parents, former Blayney residents, Michael and Kelly Hornby dedicated their daughters’ birthday to a road safety campaign designed to make drivers more careful on the road.
This year Grace and Jessica’s Road Smart Day has been expanded over the weekend of September 11 and 12, when the girls would have been celebrating their seventh birthday.
Mr and Mrs Hornby are again calling for people to wear pink and purple ribbons or tie them to their car, in memory of the twins’ favourite colours.
Taxi drivers and motorists in both the Central West and Queensland displayed the ribbons on their vehicles last year.
There is no fundraising connected to the campaign, the twins’ parents are just calling for drivers to be more aware of the potentially tragic consequences of the decisions they make on the road.
