There were visitors from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, ACT and many areas of NSW.

Engelbert brought his wife Anna, his two children Wilhelm and Anton Joseph, his sister Catherina and brother Joseph to start a new life working at Coombing Park in 1849.

In 1857 his brother Johann followed the family to Australia and settled in Goulburn.

Engelbert and Anna went on to have another six children and Engelbert became well known in the district as a carpenter, building the first Carcoar Public School and many other buildings in the area.

He then went on to purchase farmland and his great-grandson Greg remains on some of the property he once owned.

Following a visit to the Carcoar Court House on Saturday morning, where there were displays erected by Greg and Margaret relating to the Hahn family, most family members continued to the Carcoar Cemetery, where many of the Hahn ancestors are buried.

Many then took the chance to meet up by the river for a picnic on what was an absolutely perfect, sunny day.

Others walked around Carcoar and had lunch before heading to Greg’s home where a self-guided walk around the property had been planned, including the ruins of Engelbert’s original home.

A barbecue followed that evening and a cake was cut by Monica Press (the most senior family member present) and Greg Hahn (the last Hahn on the property).

Another cake was cut by the great-great-grandson of Catherina and the great-grand-daughter of Johann.

On Sunday morning, mass was said by Fr. Tony Hennessy at the Immaculate Conception Church in Carcoar, a beautiful occasion.

Lunch followed in the Carcoar School of Arts and people continued talking and sharing memories until well into the afternoon.

Blayney Can Assist catered for the weekend and guests were amazed at the variety of home-made salads supplied for the barbecue and the delicious finger food provided for our Sunday lunch, prepared and served by so many of their members.
