IF you're a young lady aged between 18 and 24 then organisers of the upcoming Blayney Show are inviting you to take part in the annual Showgirl competition.
Always a highlight of the show, organisers are looking for potential showgirls to compete in the fun competition.
Showgirl competition organiser Rosemarie Amos said judging will take place the night before the show.
"This involves an interview, followed by dinner with the judges and other contestants," she said.
"In accordance with The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl guidelines the girls will be judged on personality, confidence, ambitions and goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, personal presentation and diction and speech.
"In the past girls who have entered have gained confidence and interview experience for future job applications and career prospects."
Mrs Amos said entering the competition provides young women with a great opportunity to be ambassador for the Blayney Shire.
She said the competition isn't a beauty contest and doesn't require any fund raising.
As proof of just how far the showgirl crown can take you, Mrs Amos pointed to the success of 2011 showgirl Annah Giggins.
Annah will attend the Zone showgirl final in Canowindra on February 25 and has been given many opportunities over the past 12 months as a result of her involvement with the showgirl competition.
"Annah has attended a development weekend in Dubbo, sponsored by the Blayney Show Society, and had an enjoyable time meeting other showgirls from all over NSW," Mrs Amos said.
"The show committee has always been proud to have a Showgirl represent Blayney at the zone finals and in recent years we have had four girls who have qualified for final at the Sydney Show."
To enquire about the competition or register your interest, phone Rosemarie on 6366 3152 or Jenny Millner on 6368 2735 by March 2 to enter.
The 2012 Blayney Showgirl will be announced at the show on Saturday March 10.
