Blayney goes trout fishing

06 Nov, 2009 10:59 AM
Members of the Blayney Shire Fishing Club and members of the general public released 16,000 brown trout fry into local rivers and streams last Sunday.

The fish are delivered to Bathurst before they are transported to Blayney by members of the shire’s fishing club in bags placed in plastic bins.

The new fry will join the 34,000 rainbow trout fingerlings that were released into the shire’s streams earlier this month.

Representatives from Fishcare will travel to the Australian National Field Days and will also be administering the Get Hooked Program to local schools to teach primary children about fishing and encourage them to have a go for themselves.

Membership in the Blayney Fishing Club is open to all ages.

Six seasonal trophies are available in the club for both native fish and trout.

A current fishing license is required to fish in all streams and dams.

To find out how to become a member of Blayney Fishing club call club president Al Newstead on 6368 2037.
